The Yamaha XSR 155 has been spotted testing in India for the first time, hinting at an expected launch on 11 November, alongside the Nmax 155 maxi-scooter.
The neo-retro roadster brings a modern-retro aesthetic to the premium 160cc segment, featuring a round LED headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and a flat tail section with a bench-style seat.
In terms of features, the XSR 155 is expected to share much with the R15 and MT-15, including a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, USB charging, and full LED lighting.
Suspension duties are handled by upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock, while braking is managed by disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS. Spy images suggest 18-inch wheels at the front and rear.
Powering the XSR 155 is a familiar 155cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with variable valve actuation (VVA), producing 18.1 bhp and 14 Nm of peak torque, as seen in the R15 and MT-15. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox featuring a slip and assist clutch.
Yamaha aims to position the XSR 155 to compete with rivals such as the KTM 160 Duke.
